December 20 – Celebrating (and Monitoring) Progress
Let’s take a minute to share out our recent progress, highlighting things that have worked well, lessons learned, and what we are looking forward to. We’ll weave into this conversation how we can monitor the health of our partnerships, which we will spend more time on in spring!

2024
May 1, 2024: This month the PLC discussed Data Alliance Partnerships featuring the Delaware Education Research Alliance (DERA). To learn more about DERA visit this webpage.
April 10, 2024: This month the PLC explored considerations researchers and their stakeholders should make when seeking funding for partnership work.
January 31, 2024: UD’s Partnership for Public Education hosted Every School Day Counts Detroit and the Detroit Partnership for Education Equity & Research (PEER), an exemplary research- practice partnership collaborating to address chronic absenteeism in the city. This professional workshop was available to educators, graduate students, and researchers seeking to learn about a successful research practice partnership model in action, discuss effective strategies for strong partnerships between researchers and educators and network with local researchers and educators.
September 20, 2024: This month the PLC addressed Getting to know Delaware Schools and discussed the Delaware school system, including its history, organization, and recent initiatives at the state and local levels.
October 18, 2024: This month’s PLC conversations focused on Building Trust: Why, How, and What It Looks Like as the core feature of research-practice partnerships. Attendees were invited to share their experiences and strategies and troubleshoot new challenges!
November 15, 2024: This month’s PLC we discussed Communicating Your Project: Getting Partners on Board. Attendees were encourages to bring fliers, emails or other communications they hoped to share (or have shared!) when reaching out to potential partners. We provided time to share, get feedback, and create some guidelines for success!
2023
May 22, 2023: This month, the PLC hosted an in-person end-of-year celebrations for all our new and long-standing community members.
April 24, 2023: We revisited topics related to institutional support for partnership work and how we can strengthen opportunities and incentives for collaborating with our school, district, and state partners.
March 2023: There was no PLC meeting this month due to Spring Break.
February 27, 2023: In this month’s meeting we explored institutional support for partnership work and discussed this topic in light of PLC participants’ own experiences and work.
January 23, 2023: We heard from PLC member Lynsey Gibbons, Latrice Marriano and Annie Wilhelm (SMU) about a manuscript focusing on building relationships with teachers and leaders as part of their research partnerships. This was an opportunity to provide feedback on the manuscript and discuss these issues in light of PLC participants’ own experiences and work.
