The Partnership for Public Education (PPE) is a University-wide initiative supported by the College of Education and Human Development. We aim to develop and foster collaborative education-based partnerships and improve public education in Delaware. The University of Delaware launched the Partnership for Public Education in 2015 with support from the Provost. Since then, we have been mobilizing UD expertise, evaluation, professional development, and advocacy resources to benefit Delaware’s public education system and promote sustainable partnerships with Delaware’s public education stakeholders.
Vision
The Partnership for Public Education (PPE) is inspired by a vision of equity, excellence, and distinction for Delaware’s public education system in service of its students, families, and communities, achieved through partnerships among UD and Delaware’s greater public education stakeholders.
Mission
PPE’s mission is to bring together UD and the broader Delaware educational community to address critical issues facing schools. Recognizing the underutilization of research in education across the nation and the potential for UD research to address critical policy and practice needs within the state, we seek to expand UD’s leadership in research impact. To achieve this purpose, we work to identify, mobilize, and optimize UD research to directly address critical needs in Delaware’s education system in ways that have measurable impacts on Delaware’s P-12 policy and practice. To this end, three overarching goals guide our work:
- Increase the utilization and impact of UD research in policy and practice by P-12 stakeholders by mobilizing knowledge that promotes and advances equitable public education outcomes.
- Improve and sustain trust, communication, and engagement between UD and Delaware’s P-12 stakeholders.
- Increase capacity for education-focused, community-engaged scholarship among faculty, staff, and students.
