Taria Pritchett

 

Taria Pritchett, a University of Delaware (UD) graduate, is a high school English teacher, motivational speaker, and Confidence Coach that empowers women & teen girls. Taria was influenced to join the education field by her mother, eighth grade history teacher, and her love for reading and writing. Selected by college peers as “The Most Likely to Change the Face of Education”, in 2013, she was one of Delaware’s Top 40 under 40. Pritchett has been featured in the Huffington Post, Delaware Online, Sheen Magazine, Barnes & Noble, and the TEDx Wilmington stage (2017) and FOX 29 (2020). She was highlighted as one of Delaware’s Top Teachers of 2020 in Delaware Today magazine. In 2022, she was named Teacher of the Year at Mount Pleasant High School. Since then, she has completed extensive research and presents on educational outcomes for African American girls.

Taria teaches with the Teachers of Tomorrow program every summer at UD and recently participated in the Postsecondary Future Selves curriculum pilot study as well as helped to create a research-based resource for educators called, “Quad Text Sets to Teach for Social Justice and Equity in the ELA classroom .” This is a free and publicly available resource co-developed between UD faculty Dr. William Lewis and Dr. Jill Flynn and fellow Delaware educator and UD grad Casey Montigney. Taria serves as the Equity Liaison for her school building and runs a successful after school club called, Girls Empowered while serving as an advisor for her school’s Black Student Union. Currently Taria is the author of the award nominated book, Born FIERCE: How to Unleash the Confident Woman Within and she recently graduated with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wilmington University.
